Not many people know of the rapidly growing popularity on Lake
Fork. No it’s not the huge numbers of large mouth and its not
the mammoth crappie. It’s a smaller meaner more explosive fish
that really has been overÊ lookedÊ by many fishermen,
particularly in the winter months when the fishing starts
slowing down for some species. Ok I've held out long enough its
time to spill the beans.Ê This viciousÊ little fish is of
the bass species known to the locals as the "BAR BASS" or yellow
bass. These fish hang in large numbers and are challenging to
locate but when you do I guaranty you wont forget the
experience. There are so many extra benefits when fishing for
the bar bass and one is when you catch one there are many to
follow. The lake record is nearing 3 lbs and it’s an absolute
blast trying to shoot for that record.Ê Another favorite
perk of the yellow bass is that the "lunker" largemouth love to
schedule dinner dates with these fish. It is not uncommon at all for largemouth
to ambush these fish. The yellow bass strike hard and don't give up the fight
very easily.Ê They are a beautiful colorful species of fish. They hit on a
large variety of bait particularly the spoon and the jig.
The fish are as good as crappie to eat and every bit as fun to
catch so if you haven't experienced the latest craze you better
get you some spoons and head to Lake Fork and feel the fury
ofÊ"YELLOW LIGHTNING". And don't forget when you visit Lake Fork
and you come in with your catch of the day,ÊandÊ Ken and Becky
Moser ofÊ ( Moser's Restaurant ) at Lake Fork Marina will be
more than happy to fry your cleaned fish

MY don't forget Becky's pie's. You won't meet a nicer bunch of
people there, and you will get to enjoy some of the best food
served on Lake Fork.
